Washington, DC – Equality PAC, a political action committee formed by leaders of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, announced today their endorsement of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to be re-elected to represent Florida’s 23rd Congressional District.

“Equality PAC is proud to endorse Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz,” said Equality PAC Co-Chair Rep. Mark Takano (CA-41). “The LGBT community cannot win the fight for equality on its own, we need strong allies like Debbie in Congress. She doesn’t just get involved on the big, banner issues, but is in the weeds on LGBT policy all across the board. From her work dismantling the gay blood ban and supporting struggling LGBT youth to her leadership opposing anti-LGBT ‘License to Discriminate’ laws, Debbie is on the vanguard of destroying any barrier to the American Dream facing the LGBT community.”

“I want to thank Equality PAC and my colleagues in the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus for their endorsement of my reelection,” said Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. “While LGBT Americans enjoy marriage equality and greater freedoms today than ever before, the tragic shootings at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, the discriminatory law enacted in North Carolina and the inexcusable bullying of LGBT young people demonstrate there is still much to do to achieve equality for all Americans. From hiring, housing, and blood donation, LGBT Americans remain vulnerable to discrimination for no other reason than their sexual orientation or gender identity. In Congress, I will continue to fight alongside the LGBT community to pass the Equality Act, to dismantle the discriminatory blood donation ban, and to support LGBT youth.”
